This website serves both members of the former "Law Firm Coordinators" probono.net site and members of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel (APBCo).

The Law Firm Coordinators probono.net site was originally established as a web resource for all individuals who administer a pro bono practice at a large law firm, whether on a part-time or full-time basis and regardless of title, and was the home of a well-established listserv for members of that site. The Association of Pro Bono Counsel was established in 2006 as a professional organization for pro bono counsel and coordinators who manage a large law firm pro bono practice on a full-time basis.

Because there is significant overlap in the membership of both groups, and in order to maximize the benefit to the membership of both groups, the Law Firm Coordinators website and the APBCo website were merged in 2009. Members of each group, when logged into this joint site, will have access to documents and other resources specific to their membership. APBCo members will have access to all APBCo specific content on the site, Law Firm Coordinators site members will have access to all Law Firm Coordinators site content. Individuals who are members of both groups will have unrestricted access to all content on this joint site.

Qualifications for membership in the Association of Pro Bono Counsel are as follows:

• Attorneys who currently manage a law firm pro bono practice on a full-time basis are eligible to become general members. The following groups of people are also eligible to become general members but such applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Board of Directors or its designee: (i) non-attorneys who currently manage a law firm pro bono practice on a full-time basis; (ii) non-attorneys who currently provide programmatic (not administrative) support to an APBCo member on a full-time basis and are sponsored by the APBCo member; and (iii) attorneys who currently spend 50% or more of their time managing a law firm pro bono practice. The Board of Directors or its designee will review, and will have full discretion to approve, applications for general membership.
  
  General membership is limited to individuals. Law firms and similar entities are not eligible for general membership. The Board of Directors or its designee will review, and will have full discretion to approve, applications for general membership.
  
  As used herein, "full-time basis" means those who are employed full-time or less than full-time but work exclusively in their roles in a law firm pro bono practice.
  
• Qualifications for membership in the Law Firm Coordinators site are more flexible and most individuals who can show that they have some responsibility for management of a law firm pro bono practice will qualify.
